Repairs Somerset
Corbel repair and replace all kinds of roofs on churches houses and barns. Whether the cover is slate, tile, stone, thatch, lead, copper, stainless steel, corrugated iron, shingles or fibreglass we can help you.
Slate:
We are happy to take on the more unusual roof which many shy away from. The roof may have diminishing courses, scantling random slates, timber pegs ( rather than nails) or it could be torched with lime underneath to give a lime mortar fillet or plastering between the battens.
We are able to supply and fit Local slates essential for most listed buildings such as Delabole, Trevillet, various Welsh slates and Cumbrian slates as necessary to match the existing. Cheaper imported slate is also available if permissible and suitable to the application.
Tiles:
Whether Bridgwaters, Double Romans, Pan-tile or Plain-tile roofs, we can repair or create a matching roof. Special slates can be sourced from all over the UK.
Lead and other metal roofs:
We can supply and fit complete lead roofs in milled or sand-cast lead in any thickness to even Code 10. Formed and welded features can be made. Hollow-core or wood-core rolls and all the necessary lead flashings, lead sumps, gutters, etc can be repaired or renewed. Cast lead replica features can be manufactured.

Stainless steel, copper and zinc roofs are all more expensive options, but can be arranged.
Flat roofs can be easily made leak and trouble -free using fibreglass where it is permitted.
Thatch can be repaired, re-topped or completely renewed in water reed thatch or wheat-reed thatch.
It is not unusual on historic roofs to find that some repairs are need ed to the underlying structure. These are dealt with in our structural timber repair section. Our philosophy is generally to preserve the historic fabric and add strengthening or an alternate supporting structure around the historic.
Completely brand-new softwood or Oak roofs can be created. |
